Under the active participation of COCIR, the first coalition of its kind focusing on the potential impact that data protection could have on healthcare has been launched.

The Healthcare Coalition on Data Protection is the first initiative of its kind representing key stakeholders in the health sector around one single cause: the need to facilitate health data processing for health purposes.

The Coalition gathers representatives in Europe of physicians, dentists, medical research, healthcare providers and the medical technology and pharmaceutical industries. Together we published a joint statement on the General Data Protection Regulation, outlining how and why health data are processed to improve care delivery, medical research and ultimately patient safety.

COCIR supports this important initiative and will continue to join forces for a workable, clear and efficient data protection legal framework in Europe.
