At the request of Chinese government body AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine) and the European Commission, COCIR will organise a one-day seminar on Medical Devices on 20 September 2006 at the COCIR Office in the Diamant Building, Brussels, Belgium.

The aim of the seminar is to share information between China and the EU on medical device regulations and to provide an update to both sides.  COCIR also hopes the seminar will deepen mutual understanding as well as establishing better channels of communication between EU and China.

Among the topics on the agenda are the review of the EU Medical Device Directive (MDD), status of implementation of environmental legislation (WEEE and RoHS) in China as well as in Europe,  refurbished equipment in China as well as and post-market surveillance.

Although attendance to the meeting is limited and will be by invitation only, the seminar will bring together key figures from China, Europe and Healthcare Industry.  The Chinese delegation will include representatives from AQSIQ, CNCA, CQC, SFDA (?) and local industry.

On the European side, officials from the European Commission DGs Enterprise and Environment will attend along with representatives from COCIR and the other European healthcare trade associations - EUCOMED, EDMA, EUROM and FIDE.  Some industry members of these associations will also be attending.
