It is important for IHI to ensure that its priorities reflect the views of diverse stakeholders. To help achieve this, it is setting up a Science and Innovation Panel that will bring together representatives of the IHI partners (i.e. the European Commission and the health industries) and national representatives as well as the scientific community and the wider healthcare sector.
Now, IHI has launched an open call for people who would like to join the Science and Innovation Panel as representatives of the scientific community (4 people) or wider healthcare sector, such as patients, healthcare professionals, healthcare providers, regulatory bodies, health technology assessment bodies and healthcare payers (up to 6 people).
'If we want to succeed in tackling the biggest challenges in health, we need to take into account the needs and views of a diverse range of stakeholders. We are looking for scientists and health domain stakeholders with a high level of expertise to help guide us in setting our priorities and designing our calls for proposals so that they work for the entire health community.’ IHI Executive Director Dr Pierre Meulien
People who want to apply to be part of the panel in one of these roles should submit an expression of interest by 21 February 2022. Details of the tasks of the panel, the profiles we’re looking for and how to apply can be found on the IHI website.
Members of the panel will be appointed by the IHI Governing Board for a period of 3 years. In selecting panel members, the board will focus on applicants’ expertise and experience, while also ensuring the panel is balanced in terms of subject areas and stakeholder groups, geographical coverage, and gender.
IHI is a new partnership between the European Union and Europe’s life science industries (including the pharmaceutical, medical technology, biotechnology, digital health and vaccine sectors). It aims to advance health research and innovation in areas of unmet need by supporting large-scale projects that bring together experts from different sectors and stakeholder groups, including patients, universities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and regulatory bodies.
