COCIR Launches 4th Edition of eHealth Toolkit

NICE – 3 APRIL 2014 – Today, COCIR launches the 4th edition of its Opens external link in new windoweHealth Toolkit which focuses on how modern data-driven approaches can improve healthcare quality in a cost-effective manner.  The toolkit also highlights Big Data’s societal value and the contribution of eHealth to personalised medicine.

The launch is taking place at the World of Health IT Conference, organised by HIMSS Europe.

A special section of the toolkit concentrates on Vendor Neutral Archiving, presenting innovative trends and solutions to help healthcare providers share and access medical images and other patient related documents in a seamless way across departments, providers and networks.

As regulatory and legal trends can potentially affect the delivery and operation of integrated solutions, we have also decided to provide an updated overview of trends in medical software as well as industry recommendations on finding the right balance in data protection.

Nicole Denjoy said, “Industry strongly welcomes the European Commission’s efforts in the digital and research areas.  However, we feel more needs to be done to translate and embed these promising data-driven approaches at European level as well as into Member States’ healthcare systems.”

COCIR will continue to work on how to use data efficiently and smartly in relation to healthcare.  Nicole Denjoy added, “Healthcare systems’ sustainability requires a revolution in the way we think, do and deliver healthcare.  It requires tapping into the ‘data potential’.”
