bvitg Boosts German Membership and Health IT Footprint of COCIR

BRUSSELS – 9 April 2014 – COCIR welcomes German Trade Association Bundesverband Gesundheits-IT (bvitg) as its latest member.  Based in Berlin, Germany, bvitg is the German association of health IT Vendors and is currently representing 46 corporate members.

bvitg’s members represent 90% of the German health IT market for inpatient and outpatient care, including rehabilitation, nursing and social services.  bvitg founded and annually hosts conhIT – connecting healthcare IT – one of Europe’s most influential health IT events.  conhIT takes place every spring in Berlin.

“COCIR is the leading health ICT industry voice in Europe. We look forward to benefiting from its in-depth expertise in regards to eHealth and telemedicine initiatives and projects and regulations in Europe.  This will allow us to enhance the services we offer to our own members.” said Ekkehard Mittelstaedt, Managing Director of bvitg.

Nicole Denjoy, COCIR Secretary General, said, “COCIR is delighted to welcome bvitg as its most recent national trade association member.  This great addition to COCIR’s membership reinforces our leadership position in eHealth activities and will give us additional opportunities to strengthen one of COCIR’s key priorities.”  Nicole Denjoy added, “bvitg and COCIR are already strengthening our partnership in time for the forthcoming conhIT conference, taking place in Berlin from 6 - 8 May 2014.”
