COCIR remains active in Health Technology Assessment

COCIR was one of the selected industry voices to actively participate in the Stakeholder Forum to provide input to a European Commission Initiative launched in 2010 called EUnetHTA. The initiative is a Joint Action bringing together all the European agencies who are coordinating HTA activities at national level.

The European Commission decided in 2012 to continue this initiative under a Joint Action 2 (called EUnetHTA JA2).  COCIR and six other industry trade associations, along with other key stakeholders, renewed their interest to remain active through the Stakeholder Involvement Group.

EUnetHTA JA2 aims to establish a sustainable structure for HTA in the EU and will initiate some key pilot projects.  This initiative will include eight work packages (WP1: coordination, WP2: dissemination, WP3: evaluation, WP4: testing collaborative production of HTA information, WP5: applying the HTA core model for rapid assessment, WP6: information management infrastructures and services, WP7: methodology development and evidence generation, WP8: maintenance of HTA core model infrastructure – find more Opens external link in new windowhere).

The upcoming EUnetHTA Plenary Assembly will take place on 21 March 2013 in Zagreb, Croatia and will include DG SANCO, National HTA agencies and key representatives from the stakeholder group including industry.  For more information, see Opens external link in new windowhttp://www.eunethta.eu.

In addition to this ongoing initiative, an EU Voluntary Network composed of EU Member States is being created according to the Article 15 of the Directive on Cross-Border Healthcare.
