Research & Innovation

In November 2011, the European Commission (EC) presented Horizon 2020, a €80 billion programme to boost research, innovation and competitiveness in Europe which will run from 2014 to 2020 (7 years).
Horizon 2020 is the successor of the Framework Programme 7 (FP7) and a key pillar of the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at enhancing Europe's global competitiveness.

It focuses on three key objectives:

  1. Excellent science to support the EU’s position as a world leader in science
  2. ndustrial leadership to secure industrial leadership in innovation
  3. Societal challenges to address major concerns shared by all Europeans including health, demographic change and well-being

Horizon 2020 brings together all EU research and innovation funding under a single programme. It combines all research and innovation funding currently provided through the Framework Programmes (FP), the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

In September 2016, COCIR relaunched its Strategic Research Agenda that aims at creating awareness of COCIR Industries Contribution to European Health & Wealth.
