About COCIR

COCIR is the voice of the European Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry.  COCIR is a non-profit trade association, founded in 1959, representing the medical technology industry in Europe.  COCIR’s members play a driving role in developing the future of healthcare in Europe and worldwide.   COCIR moved to Brussels in January 2006, establishing a permanent office in Brussels to better represent industry in its relations with the European institutions.  In February 2007, COCIR opened a China Desk in Beijing to strengthen its presence and support for its members in China.

With a new staff COCIR is committed to supporting its members and communicating with its partners in Europe and beyond on issues which affect the medical technology sector and the health of EU citizens.

As well as communicating with EU policymakers on economic, regulatory and technical issues related to healthcare, COCIR works with various organisations promoting harmonised standards and fair regulatory control across the world.  COCIR encourages the use of advanced technology to support healthcare delivery worldwide.  COCIR’s key objectives include promoting free worldwide trade of medical devices and maintaining the competitiveness of the European industry.

COCIR Vision

COCIR’s aim is to represent the interests and activities of its members and act as a communication channel between its members and the European institutions and other regulatory bodies.  It also cooperates with other organisations  on issues of common interest.

COCIR seeks to promote the development of harmonised international standards and regulatory control which respect the quality and effectiveness of the medical devices and healthcare IT systems without compromising the safety of patients and users and promote the free worldwide trade of these products.

COCIR encourages the use of technology in delivering cost-efficient and state of the art healthcare systems.

COCIR is the reference point for the radiological, electromedical and healthcare IT industries.
